Derry native George Hutton's version sees the track turned into a deeply poignant duet.
Shoresheh (George Hutton) has released a haunting version of ‘The Unquiet Grave’ featuring Limerick songstress Emma Langford.
The Derry City musician explained the story of the song on his Instagram account, saying: “The tale tells the story of a man, so in love with his wife who has passed on, that grieved so much it stirred her spirit from the dead.
“Her soul could not rest until she comforted him by telling him ‘make yourself content my love till death calls you away.’ And so the man could take solace in knowing he would see her again someday.”
This folk/indie version is a heartbreaking siren song, with perfect use of echo and layered harmonies. The dramatic duet tugs at your heart strings in an inconceivable manner from the opening chords.

'The Unquiet Grave' is thought to date back as far as the 1400s, being picked up by Francis James Child in 1868 as Child Ballad number 78. The song was made famous in later years by Luke Kelly, and many covers have been released of the track since.
This track is the third release from Shoresheh, following ‘Safe and Sound’, and debut single ‘Some Kind of Noise’. The artist is once again joined by Michael Mormecha who mixed, mastered and produced the track. The celebrated producer also worked with Hutton on previous release ‘Safe and Sound’.
Speaking about Emma Langford’s feature on the track, the indie musician said: “’I’m humbled and honoured to collaborate with the incredible Emma Langford on this track who has one of the most exquisite voices and is just so, so, so brilliant to work with.”
The Limerick musician spoke about the collaboration on her Instagram account, saying: “It was such a joy collaborating with the absolute gent George Hutton who is operating under the moniker Shoresheh for his new electro-folk-fusion work”.
A music video for the track has been filmed and will be released very soon, according to the two artists.
