In keeping with its history of paying homage to classic chillers like The Shining and Dracula, this year, The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror draws from classic sci-fi Invasion of Body Snatchers.

The trailer is available to watch below. On top of The Invasion of the Body Snatchers gag, jokes in the teaser include the ship from Matt Groening's other hit creation Futurama being destroyed by Seth McFarlane's own space shuttle The Orville and Lenny on Tinder.

The Simpsons' 30th season premieres on American screens September 30. According to Indiewire, at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed characters from other acclaimed animation Bob Burgers will appear in the show as part of a couch gag.

Also announced was that celebrities Gal Gadot, Jonathan Groff, Patti LuPone, Ted Sarandos and Tracy Morgan will lend their voices to the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Groening's new series Disenchantment will premiere August 17, 2018 on Netflix. The series sees the writer and animator moving from the future of Futurama to medieval times.
