'Wasteland' is Sisterix's first release of the year, following 2021's 'What Will I Wear To The Revolution.'
Dublin alt-rock duo Sisterix have returned with a sprawling, nebulous and evocative new single, 'Wasteland.'
At nearly five minutes long, as the track progresses it transforms — moving its genuine, guitar-picked, Americana-tinged exposition into slanting choruses; turning into an at times dissonant, complex and ultimately compelling piece of music. Singers Ornait and Síomha Hennessey's voice dip and weave around each other, creating breathless harmonies, runs and layers overtop the plunking of steel guitar and crescendoing strings. Its textured instrumentals lay the groundwork for the raw, emotive lyricism — creating something that is both touching, and interesting.
Written by Ornait during lockdown, the track explores the fallacies of being in your 20's, especially during a time of extreme isolation. Describing depression, loneliness and a feeling of disconnect, it's an unfortunately familiar narrative — looking back on the past two years and wondering where they went. 'Wasteland' chronicles the steps towards healing and acceptance, as we look forward and attempt to make up for lost time.
'Wasteland' is Sisterix's first release of the year, following 2021's anthemic release 'What Will I Wear To The Revolution.' Taking their patented blend of rock, blues, Americana and alt-pop, the sisters have been steadily making a name for themselves since 2020, after releasing their debut single 'Another Reason to Hate You.'

Recently, they played the National Homeless and Housing Coalition's Gig for Gaffs, a fundraising initative that saw acts Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Frances Black and more alongside Sisterix.
