The Summer School will take place from August 8th through 13th. Over the course of the week, there will be a trans self-defence class, speakers on trans literature, a picnic in Iveagh Gardens, and more.
Dublin's Small Trans Library is launching its Summer School event series next week. The weeklong events will be made up of workshops, events and seminars both in person and virtual.
The events aim to "build both community and political engagement with a loose overarching theme of trans history," according to GCN.ie. Over the course of the week, there will be a trans self-defence class, speakers on trans literature, a picnic in Iveagh Gardens, and more.
The Small Trans Library is a community library, mutual aid organisation, and arts platform founded Dublin in 2017. It now has branches in Glasgow and Wales, and plans to expand to Manchester. The library has raised over 33 thousand euros of mutual aid for trans relief in North and South Ireland since March 2020. They've also pioneered raising a grocery fund for trans people in Ireland, and run fundraisers for a Nigerian Trans safe-house.
Our mutual aid fund is not means tested to reach as many people in need as possible.
If you are a trans person struggling financially, please reach out, and if you have the means, please donate to support the fund as it runs low! There are always outstanding requests. pic.twitter.com/wo7AbKeyBE— Small Trans Library Dublin (@translibdub) May 14, 2022
