This year's Oh Yeah Legend Award goes to ... Snow Patrol! The indie rock band will be honoured with the special award at the Northern Ireland Music Prize, taking place at Belfast's Ulster Hall on November 7. They will also perform at the award show.

Every year, the Oh Yeah Music Centre honours the exceptional contribution of a musician or act from Northern Ireland. Previous recipients of the Legend Award include Jackie Flavelle (2018, posthumous), Gary Moore (2012, posthumous) and The Undertones (2010).

Charlotte Dryden from the Oh Yeah Music Centre said: "Snow Patrol are an award winning, global success and they are wonderful ambassadors for Northern Ireland. They have never forgotten their roots and not only have they been generous to their fans at home, but supportive and helpful to many of our emerging bands too. We are really proud of them and delighted that they have agreed to accept this award right here in Belfast and perform at the event."

The Oh Yeah Legend presentation this year will be part of the Northern Ireland Music Prize, an awards celebration of home-grown, world-class music. It includes awards for best album, best single, best live act, best emerging act and outstanding contribution to music.

The award show takes place during the annual Sound of Belfast programme, a festival that celebrates the music of the city from grassroots through to the most celebrated names. This years' festival takes place from November 1 to 9.

Tickets (priced £20 + booking fee) will be on sale from 10am on August 23 from the Ulster Hall only.

Snow Patrol's hit song 'Chasing Cars' was previously named the most played song of the 21st century so far.
