Say goodbye to links and pictures eating into that 140 character limit
On September 19, Twitter is introducing some welcome changes to its 140 character limit.
No longer will images, polls, links, GIFs or videos count towards your 140 characters. In addition, usernames will also not contribute to a diminishing of your character limit.
This comes in response to the rumours that Twitter was to scrap the limit all together or at the least, increase it, but the negative feedback has brought them to the proposed compromise.

“This is the most notable change we’ve made in recent times around conversation in particular, and around giving people the full expressiveness of the 140 characters,” CEO Jack Dorsey, told the Verge. “I’m excited to see even more dialog because of this.”
