Director Lenny Abrahamson joined the cast in the iconic Dublin cinema last night for the film's European debut.
The event saw actors Will Poulter, Liv Hill , Ruth Wilson and Domhnall Gleeson take to the red carpet for the film's opening. Speaking about the ending of the project, Gleeson said “I’m sad the experience is over but I’m proud to be in one of Lenny’s films, and this film in particular.” He added, “that atmosphere of sitting around in those groups in that house was actually really, it made me feel very alive, like wow we’re really doing something special here".
The Little Stranger is an adaptation of the novel by Sarah Waters' of the same title. The plot follows Dr. Faraday who returns to an old home his mother used to work at during the summer of 1948. When he takes a new patient there, he soon discovers that the house is in decline and holds a dark secret. Fusing Gothic-horror with thriller aspects, the film is a divergence from Abrahamson's past work, including Room and Adam and Paul.
The film will be released on September 21st, and has already garnered positive reviews from critics.

The Little Stranger appears to mark another success for Irish cinema after the release of Black 47 earlier this month. Speaking about the Irish elements of the project Gleeson said "we have one of the best film-makers in the world." He added, that Abrahamson is "from the same city I'm from, [and] our producer and composer are Irish - we have lots of Irish elements here. It makes me feel very proud."
