Stephen Colbert brings back Stephen Colbert; also, Jon Stewart lives in a cabin in the woods
Colbert reprises Colbert Report character
Desperate times call for desperate measures: last night, Stephen Colbert revived Stephen Colbert, the right-wing host of The Colbert Report.
To bring him back, Stephen Colbert - the Late Show host - went to a cabin in the woods to visit an old friend: Jon Stewart. Stewart seems to have been living off the grid with Colbert's alter-ego of the same name.
Both Stewart and the Colbert character seemed content in their retirement, resigned to the fact that Jeb Bush would be the Republican nominee. When Late Show Colbert told the two that Trump had secured the nomination, however, the two agreed something must be done.
As a result, Colbert Report Colbert filled in on The Late Show to break down Trump's candidacy.
The studio audience gave an enthusiastic response, especially when Colbert brought back his old segment The Word.
For last night's segment, he coined the word Trumpiness, a play on his famous term Truthiness. "Truthiness has to feel true; Trumpiness doesn't even have to do that", said Colbert.
Colbert also crashed the Republican National Convention yesterday in a Hunger Games-style outfit, declaring the event the "2016 Republican National Hungry for Power Games".
It's sure to be a week of heavy RNC coverage on The Late Show, so be sure to tune in if you can. You wouldn't want to miss skits like the RNC musical number posted below.
