With the combination of the Live Performance Support Scheme and the success of the Government's test gigs at the Iveagh Gardens and the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, we are on the verge of a huge explosion of music activity. As part of our Summer of Music 2021 special feature, we spoke to some of the artists preparing to return to the stage...
“I miss playing shows so much, but if anything I miss going to them even more! Before everything stopped, all I did was go to gigs. I feel like I lost so much in their absence. My heart goes 90 when I think about that first gig back: whether it’s walking on stage or being in the front row. I just wanna get back to work, but it’ll take a little while to get back to match fitness. We rehearsed the other day for the first time in months and my singing muscles were all out of shape. My breath was fucked as was my stamina. I’m most looking forward to being in the front row of a friend’s gig, singing their words along with them and dancing badly. I think we’re all just dying for some human connection.”
