The ceremony celebrates Black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, and sport.
The 2024 BET awards took place at Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre, with artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Drake receiving nominations.
Album of the year went to rapper Killer Mike, for his album Michael. Taking to twitter, the rapper said “It’s an honour to receive this award from our people.”

The award was accepted on Killer Mike’s behalf by actor and musician Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino.

In his speech, Glover took the opportunity to joke about how he has won more Grammys than Will Smith, but the same amount of BET awards as Sam Smith.
Beyoncé's latest album, Cowboy Carter won in the Viewer's Choice category, running against albums from Jack Harlow, and Chris Brown.
BET veteran Nicki Minaj took home the Best Female HipHop Artist award, nominated alongside Doja Cat, and Ice Spice.
Kendrick Lamar was victorious in the Best Male HipHop artist category, nominated alongside 21 Savage, Future, and Drake.
Drake, despite being nominated in seven categories, went home empty handed.
Best female R&B artist went to SZA, who also headlined Glastonbury for the first time this weekend. Usher took home the best Male R&B Artist, as well as taking home a lifetime achievement award.
South African singer Tyla won two awards, taking home the Best New Artist award, as well as the Best International Artist.

Denzel Washington won the Best Actor award for The Equalizer 3, while Regina King won Best Actress for Shirley.
Basketball was the sport of the evening, with NBA star Jalen Brunson winning Sportsman of the year, and WNBA star Angel Reese being named this year's Sportswoman of the year.
Throughout the ceremony, there were a number of musical performances.
Golden Globe winner Taji P. Henson opened the ceremony with a cover of Kendrick Lamar’s 'Not Like Us', delivering a rendition with new , BET themed lyrics.
Taking to the stage surrounded by performers on stilts, Tyla delivered a performance of her song 'Jump' with American rapper Gunna, and Jamaica's Skillibeng.
