The record will be released at midnight tonight.
Surprise! Taylor Swift has announced the imminent release of her 9th studio album, evermore. Surprise again: it's coming out at midnight tonight.
The record is being described as a companion album to this year's folklore, and is set to include collaborations with HAIM, Bon Iver, and The National.
"I’ve never done this before," Swift said in a statement. "In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning."
She will be once again working alongside collaborators Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, WB (William Bowery, the pen name of her boyfriend Joe Alwyn) and Justin Vernon, and evermore will be arriving as close as possible to Taylor's 31st Birthday. "Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now," she said. "You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something!"
