Denzel Washington stars and directs August Wilson's play Fences.
At the insistence that an African-American direct the play Fences, deceased playwright, August Wilson, will finally have his story hit the big screen in late December under Denzel Washington's direction.
Washington starred in the 2010 broadway production of Fences as Troy Maxson, a 53 year old African-American in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania whose dreams of playing Major League baseball have been replaced by driving a garbage truck and raising a family. In the 2016 film, both Denzel Washington and Viola Davis reprise their broadway roles.
