Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice
Hang on, is this an adventure game about a defence attorney? Objection, your honour.
Overruled. Phoenix Wright is one of the few lawyers whose neck you don’t want to ring. After all, the ace attorney has taken on a number of high powered cases on Nintendo’s handheld console and emerged a winner (most of the time).
The prosecution might argue that these games murder your patience. You have to scrawl through 20 minutes of text before there’s any gameplay. The trials are more like soap operas than proper law and the plots are sloppier than a soup sandwich.
But the game’s puzzles tax the mind. Investigate crime scenes, check evidence in the court record, and cross-examine witnesses. Sometimes the zany logic will leave you bamboozled, but the outlandish characters are sure to amuse Manga fans.
Overall, here’s a hung jury on this courtroom drama.
