Big trouble in the Big Apple
Due to a global flu pandemic, New York City has been turned into a putrid cesspit, filled with car wrecks, rubbish and gun-toting maniacs. This would not look good on TripAdvisor.
You play an agent in a secret organisation, called upon when the shit hits the fan. Venturing out of a safe house, you are assigned various missions, securing areas, rescuing civilians, and retrieving equipment. Ubisoft’s shooter plays like a real-world Gears of War. Most of the action involves sticking to cover, then popping up to fire a cap in someone’s ass. Open world NYC looks incredible, although it lacks the narrative immersion of GTA.
The game incorporates the shared-world antics of games such as Destiny, so you can tackle the entire game on your own, or with a little help from your friends. If you’re brave, venture into the Dark Zone, a multi-player free-for-all where players will murder you for your boots.
Annoyingly, the game requires a constant online connection.
