Cruz, who was the last man standing for the Republican nomination with Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, landed himself in hot water last night after his Twitter account 'liked' a porn video from the handle @SexuallPosts.
The evangelical Christian who prides himself on "family values" once tried to ban sex toys during his tenure as Texas Solicitor General and has a strong ultra-conservative base.
Senior communications director to Cruz, Catherine Frazer tweeted in response to #PornGate that:
"The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter.”
However many were quick to highlight that nothing was posted on his account but in fact the video was 'liked' by Cruz. An embarrassing moment if nothing else for the Texan, we await his official comment on the matter.
