News and gossip from the domestic front with Roisin Dwyer
2008 was another remarkable year on the domestic scene, plenty of fantastic songs to soundtrack the inevitable scoffery of the next few weeks… The Aftermath have rounded off a very successful year with the release of download single ‘There’s A Darkness’. The track has been remastered by John Davis of Kaiser Chiefs, The Ting Tings, Bloc Party and The Smiths fame at Metropolis studios, London. There are plenty of live fixes on the horizon too including the band’s first dates in Northern Ireland this year with The Pigeon Detectives, a Dublin show with The Stunning and a special homecoming show in The Stables in Mullingar which will be recorded for an EP due for release early next year. Work has already started on the next album which is due for release in February next year…
Wexford songstress ODi has also commenced work on her next release, the debut longplayer is due next summer. The new ODi website is now online at www.odimusic.co.uk. Congrats are due on a spectacular support slot to Tom Baxter at his Electric Avenue show…
Cork’s Nassau launched their electrifying debut long-player Attica State at a sold-out show in The Half Moon Theatre recently. Since the release of their single ‘She Drives’ last October the band have been busy finishing their album while playing some prestigious gigs in Ireland and England. The video of the tribute to the mathematical genius has had a hair-raising amount of hits on YouTube! There are festive live treats-a-plenty to keep you busy during December starting with Young Hearts Run Free presents We Love Yule on Friday December 5 at The Joy Gallery@RedSpace, 2 Rutland Place, Parnell Square, Dublin 1.
