The Blizzards take over abandoned cinema in new video for 'Play God'
The new track, 'Play God', marks The Blizzards' second single this year.
Mullingar-based band The Blizzards have released their new single 'Play God', along with a music video that was filmed in and around their County Westmeath home.
Like the band's previous videos, 'Play God' was filmed by Mullingar creative company Bronte Design in local sites like the now-abandoned Ritz Cinema. The track comes after the recent releases of 'Friction Burns' in 2021 and 'Trigger Me' earlier this year.
Frontman of the four-piece band, Niall Breslin, says that the new track is “inspired by a close friend and represents the fragility of life."
“Only when we are born and when we face our demise do we realise what really matters in life. And often in between we lose that sense of what matters, our sense of self and what we stand for. A clarity that unveils itself during a time of pain and realisation of putting your life in someone else's hands and asking for help.”
The new single was recently featured in Vicky, a new film by documentary-maker Sasha King that follows Vicky Phelan's inspirational fight for women's health in Ireland.
The Blizzards will be at Bulmers' Live, Dublin on April 16, Bachelors Festival, Mullingar on April 30, and the Wild Roots Festival, Sligo on June 3rd.
