The Deadpool Sequel Loses Its Director
Tim Miller bows out.
Tim Miller made his directorial debut with this year's Deadpool, a huge financial boon despite 20th Century Fox's reluctance to move forward with the project. We attribute the movie's success with bright colored costumes, fun, irreverent humor, Deadpool's penchant for fourth wall breaks, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. A sequel was pretty much guaranteed, which Deadpool himself was happy enough to proclaim in the post-credits stinger.
Unfortunately, film production has hit a snag, with Tim Miller leaving over creative differences with lead actor Ryan Reynolds. The contention seems to have arisen over Reynolds being given casting approval, leading to disagreements over the casting choice of Cable. Both characters were created by comic book writer Rob Liefeld, and frequently co-starred in long running titles.
Hopefully, Fox will find a good director with a sense of action and comedy, and that they will have the good sense not to interfere with the creative direction of the movie (good chance at that).
