As the shop windows of the country are crammed with Easter eggs in preparation for one of the most indulgent feasts of the year it seems appropriate to start on a sugary note. Dublin’s Sweet Jane follow a successful year of touring with such luminaries as The Distractors, Giveamanakick, The Brothers Movement, Dae Kim and Twinkranes with their first official release. The band will be working with Rough Trade’s Graham Sutton on the project, will keep you posted. In the meantime they travel to Sheffield at the end of March to take part in The Dream Machine Weekender alongside former Spiritualized/Spacemen 3 member Will Carruthers' new band Free Love Babies and The Dilletantes who are Joel Gion of Brian Jonestown Massacre fame's latest venture...

David Hopkins has been very busy lately. Five songs from his forthcoming album Running With Knives were chosen for the soundtrack of the Paris Hilton film, The Hottie And The Nottie. David’s music will also feature in the upcoming film The Year Of Getting To Know Us, which stars Lucy Liu and Sharon Stone. His long-player is due for release shortly...
Another album in the pipeline is Grenade from The Chapman Society. The band will also be attending to live duties during March and April and play what promises to be a blistering show in Fibber Magee's on April 18. The latest from Cork’s Hooray For Humans is that jamming has commenced with the new line-up; Alan, Tom, Jen and Matt. The band have unfortunately had to cancel all Irish dates except the gig in Limerick in Dolan’s Warehouse on March 13 with Grand Pocket Orchestra and CapPasCap. Rescheduled dates to be announced shortly. The UK tour is full steam ahead and the band promise details on a new 7-inch very soon!...
The multi-talented Chequerboard, guitarist, producer and graphic artist John Lambert, has just released his new album Penny Black. His last opus, 2005’s Dictaphone Showreels was a delightful sonic adventure in organic electronica that quickly became a favourite of Cian Ó Cíobháin and Donal Dineen. News from Fionn Regan is that the follow up to The End Of History is due this summer. Ethan Johns of Kings Of Leon fame is at the helm on this occasion and we can expect “more attack, aggression and electric guitars, as well as a few trademark acoustic beauties”.
