Dublin-formed outfit The Murder Capital have announced a show at the 3Olympia Theatre on Saturday 18th November 2023 as part of their The Clown’s Reflection tour.
The five-piece have also unveiled a new video for Gigi’s Recovery track 'Crying', spurred on by a mosaic approach.
The Murder Capital’s second album was released earlier this year to huge critical acclaim and commercial success. The record went to Number 1 in Ireland and the Top 20 in the UK.
The 'Crying' video was directed by Pump from the band, inspired by the surreal art they were all consuming and the bizarre nature of summer 2020. When that direction was revealing itself, so were the first accessible AI visual generators.
“Early on, Crying solidified itself as a track that steered the direction of the record," he explains. “Something about nature depicted in this fashion, captured what inspired us in our pursuit towards a more textured and mosaic approach. I continued to picture these distorted hills and compressed waves as the track developed. So when it was discussed that it wouldn't be a single, I made a point of making a video myself to portray what I'd been seeing the whole time.”

Frontman James McGovern describes the earnest meaning behind the track.
“The greatest determination I’ve found is in the love of a true friendship. The meaning behind Crying is quite literally about holding onto that connection for dear life, whether yours or a friend’s. When your friend needs you, you gotta be there for them. No hesitation. No matter what.”
2023 has been a breakout year for The Murder Capital (composed of McGovern, Damien Tuit, Cathal Roper, Diarmuid Brennan and Gabriel Paschal Blake). Alongside Gigi’s Recovery, they played a 16-date US tour, as well as appearing at Coachella for the first time.
The band recently headlined The Great Escape in Brighton, and this summer have a packed schedule with over thirty festival performances including Glastonbury, Primavera, Reading and Leeds, Barclaycard presents Isle of Wight Festival, Electric Picnic and End Of The Road. Recently the band went to the KEXP live room and performed a typically thrilling and intense session.
