The twice annual festival Tradition Now series set to return in June and feature an impressive ensemble of both Irish and international performers.
The National Concert Hall’s Tradition Now festival shines a light on the convergence of traditional folk music and contemporary innovations. Festival performers have varied backgrounds from jazz to traditional folk, but they all share a similar desire to breath new life into Irish music.
The concert series features everything from electronica, to dark folk balladry, to trance influenced soundscapes, to traditional Irish folk music. This meeting of the old and new is at the core of this exciting event.
One of this year's festival highlights includes a performance from American Irish group The Olllam. The world renowned group of musicians will be returning to the concert stage for the first time in four years to once again entrance audiences with their luscious melodies, stunning instrumental virtuosity, and a magical marriage of tradition and modernity. The Olllam will be joined by special guests Harry Bradley, Dónal O'Connor, and Libby McCrohan.
Eimear Bradley and Natalia Beylis while also grace the Tradition Now concert series with new new music for keyboard instruments, cello, and electronics inspired by their arboreal research project titled 'Whose Woods These Are’.
The festival will also see performances by singing trio Rufous Nightjar, contemporary ensemble Notify, and Ian Lynch of the band Lankum.
