The guitarist is survived by his three siblings.
Otis Redding III, son of the legendary soul singer with the same name, has just died at 59-years-old, his family reports.
The guitarist died of cancer in Macon, Georgia, his sister, Karla Redding-Andrews, said in a statement, posted on the Otis Redding Foundation's Facebook page.
Otis Redding III was the guitarist for 1980's funk band The Reddings, alongside brother Dexter, on bass and vocals, and cousin Mark Lockett, on keyboard. The group put out six records during their run, most famed for tracks 'Remote Control' and 'Doin' it' off of 1980's The Awakening.
After the band went their separate ways in 1988, Redding went on to tour with soul singer Eddie Floyd. With Floyd, Redding played guitar and sang a number of his father's songs.

“He said, ‘You can play guitar with me, but you’re going to have to sing a few of your dad’s songs,’” Redding told Portland, Maine's WCSH-TV, in 2018.
Redding was only three when his father died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967, but was grateful to his fathers legacy, happily joining Floyd in renditions of '(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay' during his European tour.
In his later years, Redding worked with his family’s foundation, organising summer camps that taught children music. He also served as the board president for his local chapter of Meals on Wheels.
