The Sultans of Ping will be playing the Cork Opera House on February 11, 2023, with tickets for the show starting at €26.
Cork four-piece The Sultans of Ping are returning with a special Cork Opera House show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal 1993 album, Casual Sex in the Cineplex. The concert will take place on February 11, 2023, with tickets starting at €26.
Formed in Cork in 1988 by Niall O'Flaherty, Pat O'Connell, Paul Fennelly and Ger Lyons, the Sultans of Ping have undeniably made their mark on the early indie scenes; with bands the likes of Fontaines D.C citing them as inspiration.
Rising to prominence in 1992 with 'Where's Me Jumper,' a guitar driven indie-pop track, the outfit went on to release albums Casual Sex in the Cineplex, Teenage Drug and Good Year For Trouble — the last of which got the group in hot water for explicit album art.
Masterfully absurd and always controversial, the Sultans of Ping have ingrained themselves in the halls of Irish music history, and are now returning to celebrate 30 years of breaking boundaries.

"It's our first show in Cork since 2014 and we are really excited to be playing Cork Opera House for the first time in the band's history," said drummer Morty McCarthy in a statement.
Fans can expect Casual Sex in the Cineplex classics the likes of 'You Talk too Much,' 'Stupid Kid' and 'Veronica,' as the band celebrates its impact and legacy in the special anniversary showcase.
