Get loved up at Planetlove Ireland, the marathon dance event taking place at Fairyhouse this summer.
The third annual Planetlove festival at Fairyhouse Racecourse this summer has been officially launched under the banner Planetlove Ireland.
More than 70 DJs and dance acts will perform at the event, although only half of these have been confirmed so far.
The marathon dance party, sponsored by Bavaria Premium Lager, takes place at Fairyhouse Racecourse, Ratoath, County Meath on Saturday June 6, from 2pm until 1am.
For the first time, there will be no involvement from Sean Brennan, who co-promoted the event for first two years, or RTÉ Radio 2fm, which will not be broadcasting live from any of the stages this year.
However, there has been an increase in the number of music arenas to seven, and four of these are first-time additions to Planetlove in the south.
The eleventh Planetlove event in Northern Ireland will proceed as planned in September, but this will not be announced for another couple of months.
Promoter Eddie Wray told Hot Press of the new-look Fairyhouse model: “We believe this will be the best Planetlove in Ireland yet. We’re not announcing the full line-up this weekend as there are more great names yet to be confirmed in the coming days.”
The seven music stages are the Love Arena, the Love 90s Outdoor Stage, the Hard Dance arena, the new Letrik arena, the new Streetlife techno arena, the new Irish Legends arena and the new Hed Kandi VIP arena.
In the Love Arena, Ferry Corsten will headline a stunning line-up which sees Irish phenomenon John O’Callaghan get his biggest starring role yet.
John reportedly stole the show at Trance Energy 2009 in Utrecht earlier this month, where he headlined alongside the likes of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk.
He ’s since revealed the name of his second album is Never Fade Away and it will be released in May, with label Armada hosting a launch party in Amsterdam on May 16.
Also confirmed for the Love Arena are Marcus Schulz, Judge Jules, Marco V and John Gibbons. Other unconfirmed names tipped for this tent include Yoji, Scot Project, Richard Durand and Mac & Taylor.
The hard dance arena will be hosted by one of the biggest brands in dance music, and this will be revealed in the coming weeks. The most likely contenders are Goodgreef.
This tent boasts the banging brigade’s new star Kutski among the headliners for the first time, alongside Lisa Lashes, Alex Kidd, Showtek and Karl Davis. Likely additions here are Dark By Design, Technikal and Kidd Kaos.
The hard dance arena will also feature one of two sets from this scribe; the other will be an Olympic-era anthems set on the all-new Love 90s outdoor stage.
Performing here are a succession of hitmakers from rave’s golden decade including Living Joy, Culturebeat, Alex Party and N Trance.
The Streetlife techno arena is being promoted by the team behind Trinity Rooms in Limerick, and features techno legend Dave Clarke, Brighton stars Hot Chip, Irish techno icon Fergie, Limerick’s Dan Sykes and the Electric City DJs from Dublin.
The Letrik trance arena makes its debut at Planetlove armed with Cosmic Gate, Markus Schossow, Syd van Riel, Stoneface & Terminal, Paul Webster and Bryan Kearney.
Letrik has built up a fearsome reputation in recent years as one of the biggest independent forces in Irish clubland.
The Irish Legends Arena is one that should make us all proud.
Headlined by the inimitable clubland pioneer and activist Johnny Moy, this new tent also boasts Johnny’s fellow Ballybrack native Al Gibbs from FM104, Donegal’s Full Tilt legends Timmy & Tommy, Carlow’s RTÉ Pulse host Orla Feeney, western hero Tom Lavin, Wexford and Beat FM’s lovable tech-house champion Darren Rice, and Naked Lunch signing and Tralee mixing champion Jonno Brien.
The up and coming Michael Doherty will open the proceedings here and several other notable names will be added to this arena in the months ahead.
The seventh arena is the Hed Kandi VIP area, with DJs from the UK superclub’s team of residents and a number of special guests.
Following the adverse effects of last yeear’s bad weather, the promoters have announced that there will be a new weather proof location to cater for the festival’s first ever outdoor stage.
There will be fully licensed bars, a bigger and better festival village, and more of the finest dance artists on the planet yet to be announced.
Planetlove Ireland will be a strictly over 18s event and photo ID will be required.
Standard tickets cost €79.75 and VIP tickets €99.75 (both plus booking fees). Available from Ticketmaster.ie (phone 0818 719 300) and from www.planetlovemusic.com/shop. Tickets are on sale now… THE BEAT GOES ON!
