Boosterrific!
Greg Berlanti is a busy guy. He produces for all of The CW’s superhero shows, and writes for three of them–Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Now, he’s directing a Booster Gold movie, and though we don’t know much about the movie, Berlanti has revealed that it won’t be connected to the DCU, from which Man of Steel and other related films hail.
This news is a bit odd, considering Warner Brothers’ future plans for DC superhero movies. What’s more odd is that, given the nature of the Booster Gold character, it’s hard to picture a scenario where Booster Gold isn’t part of a shared universe. In the comics Michael Carter works as a janitor for a superhero museum in the 25th century. With the help of a museum security robot, Skeets, he steals a variety of superhero gear on display and travels to our time, where he can be a superhero for shameless self-promotion and to make a comfortable living.

With a premise like that, we can only wonder how Berlanti will make it work as film without that shared universe. Perhaps things will change, and the film will be connected to the DCU. Considering that Booster Gold is generally portrayed in a goofy, lighthearted manner, he would feel out of place next to moody Superman and moodier-than-usual Batman. We’ll see.
