Tickets for the April 9 date are on sale now.
A third extra date has been added to Moonlight: The Philip Lynott Enigma at Vicar Street for April 9. The first two showings, on April 2 and 3, are already sold out.
Moonlight is an expansive rock and theatre production that follows the childhood of Phil Lynott, who spent his early days in Crumlin and would go on to become the frontman of the legendary Thin Lizzy, influencing and inspiring an entire generation of musicians around the world.
Created by John Merrigan and Danielle Morgan, and directed by Jason Figgis, this production offers a deeper portrait of an artist who has earned his place among the best writers, musicians and poets in Ireland.
The lead role is assured by Peter M. Smith, supported by a supporting cast and live band that will play a blend of Thin Lizzy hits and all new original music. The play will also feature a cameo performance by Eric Bell, co-founder of Thin Lizzy.
“When offered the chance to play the role of Philip Lynott, I was truly honoured as an actor, as a proud Dubliner, and as a Thin Lizzy fanatic,” Peter M. Smith comments. “Too much has been said about the rockstar lifestyle – it is a tired subject. This production seeks to honour Philip Lynott for what he was – a literary great and consummate artist.”

Speaking with Hot Press in a recent interview, the actor spoke up about the importance of diversity in Ireland, saying: "I think it's important people understand that people of all race, colours and creeds have contributed towards Irish society.
"When you go to the United States for example," he continued, "you could use the example of Frederick Douglass who goes way, way further back than even Philip does. People of colour, which I am, have always contributed positively to societies all over the world and I think it's important from that viewpoint to remind some people of that. Some people, obviously."
As August 2024 marked what would have been Lynott's 75th birthday, Moonlight is both a tribute and an authentic account of the rock star's life.
Tickets for Moonlight: The Philip Lynott Enigma on April 9 are on sale now for €39.20.
