Sunday marked the first day of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which allows displaced Palestinians to return to North Gaza, calls for the release of 33 Israeli hostages and frees hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Dublin City Council has ordered the removal of a Palestinian mural outside Peadar Browns pub, sparking a response from thousands through a petition.
The mural displays the words, “Saoirse Don Phalaistin,” translating to "Freedom for Palestine,” and features the Palestinian flag. Hugh Cullen of Dublin Supporting Palestine created the petition for city council to reverse their decision and issue an apology. The petition now has over 2,000 signatures.
“Nothing said about our Katie Taylor mural on the back wall of the building, strange,” the pub wrote on Instagram. “Please sign the petition on our bio.”
They continued, writing that they received no complaints regarding the mural and plan to continue showing support for Palestine.
“This matter is the subject of a live planning enforcement investigation. No further comment can therefore be made at this time,” said a representative from the Dublin City Council.
Peader Browns pub stated they were not provided a reason for the removal.

“I am personally invested in peaceful co-existence, just like countless others in our community,” wrote Cullen on the petition page. “The order from Dublin City Council to remove this mural contradicts the values and ethos of the citizens they represent.”
Irish Sport for Palestine showed their support for the mural on Sunday morning.
As of today Peadar Browns has not announced the removal of the mural.
