Iconic Dublin store Weir & Sons boasts a treasure trove of luxury goods, including a stunning range of watches with a rock and roll edge.
It's coming up to autumn, which for many people means starting new phases in their life; commencing college, entering the job market, beginning a new work quarter. And what better way to celebrate a new era in your life, to honour the passing of time, and to look towards the future, than with a striking new watch?
Open nearly 150 years, revered Dublin store Weir & Sons was established in 1896, when Thomas Weir moved to the Irish capital from Glasgow. He duly transformed the city's perception of what real luxury and elegance could be. Weir & Sons' range of stunning jewellery, watches and fine china has long attracted lovers of top-range gifts, with esteemed visitors and customers including Princess Grace of Monaco and her husband Prince Rainier, and Walt Disney himself.
One of Weir & Sons' esteemed brands is Zenith, a watch manufacturer that has registered over 300 patents, created more than 600 movement variations, and won 2,333 prizes in the field of chronometry: an absolute record. Zenith were also behind the world's first integrated automatic chronograph movement, beating at the exceptional frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour: the El Primero chronograph calibre, an acknowledged benchmark to this day, accurate to one one-thousandth of a second.
But Zenith aren't just about watches - they're supporters of all forms of innovation and genius, including rock and roll masters. Championing pleasure, daring and authenticity in all its forms, Zenith created the El Primero Chronomaster 1969 - a limited edition, 1,000 piece collection celebrating The Rolling Stones. Featuring those iconic lips and design features that evoke the fretboard of Keith Richard' Fender Telecaster and record grooves, Zenith transformed a watch into a piece of rock and roll history.
Zenith have also had collections celebrating Bowie, The Beatles, AC/DC and Buddy Holly, allowing lovers of music and design mastery to bring a little piece of edge and inspiration to their everyday life.

Zenith are also displaying their new collections in Weir & Sons on Grafton Street, and these luxury watches have a design for everyone. The Defy Classic collection is a unisex collection with a younger, more modern feel, perfect for the young executive or graduate looking for a classic, understated and chic watch. For a more vintage aesthetic that will never go out of style, the Pilot collection features retro designs with thick leather straps, and simple-yet-bold faces featuring bronze and aged steel. The Velar collection is perfect for car lovers and aficionados, as the collection was designed in collaboration with Range Rover. The striking straps are made from the same leather as is used in the luxury vehicles, so even if you're stuck in an office, you can still feel some of that freedom of the open road.
For something just a little bit special, look to the Elite collection, where there are stunning models available for both men and women. The men's watches in the Elite collection are striking and luxurious, but it's the women's models that prove utterly bewitching. The Elite Lady Moonphase models feature mother-of-pearl or intricate diamond faces, with a beautiful and fully-functional moonphase detail at the 6 o'Clock position, showing what stage of the moon calendar you're at any given time.
Intricately depicted with clouds and stars, the moonphase detail is a magical addition to the Elite collection, showing Zenith's appreciation for feminine power. Available in rose-gold or stainless steel, with a shimmering mother-of-pearl face or a diamond encrusted luxury model, the Elite Lady Moonphase watches add some mystery and intrigue to this classic brand.
