"It's gonna be a bithin' year, 66! A bitchin' year!" Said an enthusiastic Tom Hanks as he celebrated his birthday last Friday (July 9) on Boss Radio 66 with an hour-long set entitled 'Songs From The Back of The Station Wagon.' The set was made up of obscure rock'n'roll songs and the show was produced by Johnny 'Big Hand' Bartlett for the online independent radio station.

Hanks narrated the songs as they went along, describing the music he was playing as "a brand of surf music that I would have as my at-bat music if I was walking up in the ninth inning to try and pinch in a double, drive a man home."

Hanks' love of music has always been obvious. His directorial debut with That Thing You Do! saw him play the manager of 1960s band, The Wonders. Last year, the actor paid tribute to Fountains of Wayne co-founder Adam Schlesinger. "There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der," Hank wrote in a tweet.
