Our track of the day is from the talented Susie Q with her latest single "Hold On" offering a light in times of darkness.
The Limerick-born singer has been making her mark on the Irish music scene since her debut single "Home" was released earlier this year, which provided a powerful commentary on the ongoing refugee crisis and sent out a message of peace.
Her new track "Hold On" continues this trend, intended to offer those struggling in life a ray of hope.
Susie Q credited her work as a meditation teacher and several years experience working in the area of mental health with giving her huge insights into a number of the issues faced by people today and inspiring much of her songwriting. The singer, who is also the co-founder of A Lust For Life organization alongside The Blizzards frontman and mental health advocate, Niall Breslin (Bressie), says she felt called to offer a message of hope to those in distress.
"I originally wrote the song for friends of mine who were struggling in their relationship but then I realized it had a more universal theme that applies to most of us when the going gets tough. The song is a reminder for when we're in our darkest hours that hard times do pass. It's important to remember that many new moments of joy, peace of mind, connection and love are ahead of us. There is so much good waiting for us if we can hold on, and reach out for support when we need it. Life can be hard but also wonderful all at once, this is the dance of our shared humanity".
"Sometimes we need to just hold on when we feel like giving up".
