The Kilkenny indie-pop pairing will release their upcoming Must Be Nice EP on July 22nd.
49th & Main have shared their second single on Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records, a dreamy alt-electronic pop offering titled 'Human Condition'.
Kilkenny artists Patrick King and Ben O'Sullivan have already gained attention with 20 million streams amassed on Spotify since 2020. Other successful singles include 'Don't You Like It?', 'Good Life', 'Catching Eyes', 'Party Alone' and 'Lost With You'.
Previous single 'Streetlights' was mixed by Nate Burgess, forging a danceable and heavily layered account of ‘wasted’ youth.
The entrancing new cut is taken from their debut EP called Must Be Nice, which is slated for release on July 22nd. The visuals see the pair running through the night after a party, sprinting through chippers on Suffolk Street and trying to escape intoxication. They end up back at the party porch, only to swiftly exit yet again to find escape.
"To be human is to make mistakes, to feel emotion and to seek connections," the duo explained. "We tried to capture that in a song. We probably did a bad job but hey after all we are human.”
49th and Main are hitting the Forbidden Fruit stage this weekend, as well as Glastonbury Festival later this month. The skyrocketing act will play the The Acoustic Stage at 12:45pm on Saturday 25th June, further showcasing their rapid ascent in the UK and European music scenes.

In 2021, they released their EP Good Luck, which featured a slew of fellow independent Irish artists like KEHLI, Khakikid and Fynch. The duo's wide range of influences are fully on display on the EP, with styles ranging from dreamy lo-fi to pulsing hip hop.
