This is the final release from Burnside's remix EP, also out today.
Alt-folk songwriter Joshua Burnside’s sophomore record Into The Depths of Hell was released last year, to critical and public acclaim (Hot Press gave the album 9 stars). Today, Burnside has shared another of his recent forays into the world of electronic music, collaborating with 1000 Beasts to rework one of the album's highlights, 'Noa Mercier'.
1000 Beasts, an acclaimed Irish producer and songwriter in his own right, gives the track a cinematic, orchestral sweep. Building the track from its gentle electric-folk opener to a thunderous crescendo, complete with a guitar solo woven throughout Burnside's trad-inspired vocals, the new take on 'Noa Mercier' is a roaring, unique reimagining of Burnside's already stunning work.
Burnside is sharing the Noa Mercier EP in full today, revisiting some of the fan favourite tracks. He teamed up with a number of producers to breathe new life and textures into the record, including uladh. (Joel Harkin), Sorbet (Newdad, Just Mustard, Robocobra Quartet) and the new remix from 1000 Beasts.
Last Bandcamp Friday, Burnside also released a limited edition, signed CD of 2 of his early EP's – All Round The Light Said + Far O'er The Sounding Main.
