Indie-folk duo Laytha will release their debut album on April 22nd, 2022.
Fermanagh pairing Laytha have returned with gorgeous new single 'Wavey Gamey', alongside the announcement that their debut album will land next month.
An indie-folk duo cut from the same cloth as Saint Sister and First Aid Kit, these Irish singer-songwriters specialise in weaving fiery tales and cold ballads. Featuring Niamh Carney on vocals and Philana Nolan on vocals and guitar; the duo have made a name for themselves over the last few years for their enrapturing sound.
On their debut EP, ‘Taobh Eile’, the two-piece painted bright portraits and landscapes, lined with pain, wanderlust, and a sublime yearning.
Whilst 'Daughter' dealt with connection and 'What Will I Gain' with family, new single 'Wavey Gamey' takes stock of the ties that bind, and the burdens they bear. Lead by the duo's trademark harmonies and melodies, 'Wavey Gamey' sees us continue our journey through the narrow, overgrown paths of Laytha's sonic horizons.
Though deeply personal, Laytha's newest track is written with universality in mind. The pitfalls we encounter from verse to verse ring true with a clarity mirrored by the bright vocals that have become a staple of the Laytha sound. Laid upon a bedrock of gorgeous string and acoustic arrangements, 'Wavey Gamey' has the instantaneous warmth and familiarity of a traditional folk song but the horns and spirit of a fresh indie favourite.

Informed as much by the future as they are by the past, Laytha’s combination of weaving beautiful narratives with flawless harmonising has established the outfit as one of the bright new talents of Ireland.
