'Medication (demo)' follows Lucy McWilliams' brilliant performances at The Great Escape last month in Dublin and Brighton.
Irish singer-songwriter Lucy McWilliams has returned with a delicate new single 'Medication (demo)', a stripped down, vulnerable track about dependence and mental illness.
'Medication (demo)' follows the Dublin-based indie-pop artist’s recent well-received singles ‘The Woman In Me’, ‘Fair Play’ ft. Malaki, ‘Runaway’, and ‘You Know,’ with CHAMELEON which garnered over 11.5 million streams online and was played on airwaves nationwide.
‘Medication’(demo) continues the sweet and alluring direction Berlin-based Dublin artist Lucy McWilliams has been exploring of late. Her piercing vocals tell a tragic story with care and compassion.
With only a humbly-played piano and her own soaring voice, this new release highlights the raw and heartfelt songwriting she is quickly earning a reputation for.
“Losing someone who struggled all their life with mental health issues is a very hard thing to come to terms with, but I feel like unfortunately there are a lot of people who have gone through the same experience," McWilliams explains.
"Like most musicians, I write music and lyrics to help me cope with things that are happening in my life. In writing ‘Medication’, it helped me try to understand where that person might have been to make them feel like this was their only option.”
