Her debut track, 'Fair Play', featured rising rapper Malaki.
Riding on the news that her debut single with Malaki has reached one million streams in a few short month, Lucy McWilliams dropped her sophomore track, 'RUNAWAY', yesterday.
It's clear the young singer-songwriter is only just getting started. Armed with the skillful production of her longtime collaborator Matthew Harris, 'Runaway' boasts McWilliams' soulful vocal and a smooth, Bossa Nova-inspired beat.
"When I wrote it, it began as a love and heartbreak song but I wanted to make it feel happy because so often you look back on relationships and only see the sadness," McWilliams explained to Nialler9, who premiered the track. "But it’s so important to see the goodness that came out of everything, there’s always a positive.
“The track is really about wanting to run away to a life that you know isn’t there anymore. It’s not real but you can still hold those memories tightly even though you can never go back”
