'The Season' follows on from 'My Roots Go Deep', the first look at Irglová's forthcoming album LILA, releasing mid August.
Markéta Irglová has released the second taste of her forthcoming album in the shape of new single 'The Season'.
The new glimpse of Irglová's soon to arrive album LILA is accompanied by a breathtaking, delicate music video, starring dancers Alejandra Jara and Yannier Oviedo.
'The Season' is perfect showcase of Irglová’s classical musical training, transporting the listener back to 18th/19th century Victorian England. This latest release brings the sounds of a baroque painting to life, with love torn lyrics and delicate strings at the forefront.
This latest drop acts as a perfect follow up to 'My Roots Go Deep', the first single from the Czech-Icelandic singer-songwriter's first album in over eight years, LILA. This long-awaited album will arrive through Masterkey Sounds on August 19.
The musician, most popularly known for her Academy Award winning role in ONCE, is stepping back into the music scene with this confessional forthcoming album.
Her time away from releasing music was anything but quiet - during the eight years Irglová got married, had three children, and built a studio all while working on music near constantly in the intermitting years. LILA will offer an insight into Irglová’s journey and how she has managed to find balance in her career as an artist, wife and mother, while embracing this whole new paradox of love.

In a press release, Irglová acknowledges that she drew direct inspiration for new track, 'The Season', from the show 'Bridgerton', which she fell in love with during the pandemic. She noted that "along with 'Bridgerton' shows 'Altered Carbon', 'Normal People' and 'The Witcher' brought about almost synthesia-like moments during quarantine in which songs would come to life in her head and spill out into recorded form."
The concept for the beautifully crafted music video perfectly fits with the track, which moves like a dance.
Shot in the Unesco protected site of Arcibiskulsky Zamek at a castle in Kromeriz, Czech Republic, the video shares location with Milos Forman's movie Amadeus. Located just down the road from Irglová’s hometown, the video marks a return to the singers home and roots. The visual was produced by Czech agency Little Greta, directed and filmed by Radim Vanous, starring Jara and Oviedo, who previously collaborated with Irglova in the 'Among The Living' video.
