/////// (seacht líne) are post-trad band based in Belfast and London, formed by brothers Joshua and Connor Burnside.
Instrumental duo Seacht Líne unveiled a new single via Bandcamp last Friday, titled 'Gull'.
/////// [Seacht Líne] is a musical project born during lockdown, with an emphasis on family, home and nostalgia. The pair's hawk on the cliff EP landed in December.
Based in Belfast and London respectively and learning new instruments at the time, the pair were forced to slow their approach to writing, opening new ways for them to be creative.
A direct response to the broken familial connections we all experienced over the last two years, the Northern outfit is rooted deeply in the Burnside family tree and sense of identity. The collaborator's second single from their upcoming deluxe EP Unfenced Country is a distinct call back to the noises, sights and smells of family holidays, fiddles and banjos pitch and swell like waves on the sand.
Nostalgia remains the fuel behind the Seacht Line engine, one that sees bittersweet emotions take the forefront of the music.
"Like previous pieces, this tune harks back to childhood holidays, scampering around rocky beaches on Achill Island, with a lonesome gull cawing above us. The cry of the Gull can be heard as sad and shrill, or joyous like laughter, reflecting our mood back at us. There is both sorrow and joy in nostalgia, pining for those long summer days, clutching at fading memories," Joshua Burnside notes.

At the moment, the lads are stricking to Bandcamp only:
"Some people asking for the /////// [seacht líne] stuff on Spotify and iTunes," Joshua tweeted in January. "Unfortunately they won’t let us use that band name so either I’ll have to compromise and go with the simpler Seacht Líne or not bother with Spotify etc and just keep it pure Bandcamp hai... what to do."
