Beginning with a sparse drum beat leading into twinkling strings, Sive's latest single 'Dancing Alone' is another alt-folk gem with effortlessly strong vocals.

The final release from Sive's upcoming album We Begin in Darkness (out April 28) is a song that goes against the flow, with a chorus that dances and swirls featuring Sive's floaty and light, soaring voice and gentle reassuring ukulele. Filled with sweet, resonant harp sounds; a featured drum beat brings a dance element to the forefront of this track. Traditional and contemporary mingle for a folklore-inspired soundscape full of choral harmonies and ethereal melodies.

“'Dancing Alone' is a song about criticising yourself for not seeming to ‘fit in’ and the feelings of childishness that gives rise to," Sive explains. "It’s a song full of contradictions; on the one hand you want to run away and be alone, while on the other hand you want nothing more than for others to understand and join in your dance.”

A special album launch show takes place on 19th May in Workman’s Cellar, promoted by Singular Artists, ahead of numerous Irish summer appearances such as Claremorris Folk Festival, Levis’ Ballydehob and more.

Known for opening for the likes of Lisa Hannigan, Christy Moore, Kila, Mick Flannery, Cathy Davey, John Spillane and Gemma Hayes, Sive has had notable performances at Electric Picnic, Temple Bar TradFest, Body & Soul, TSB Festival of Lights (New Zealand), Cúirt International Festival of Literature and Dublin Book Festival with Poetry Ireland.

The Meath native also won the audience choice vote to appear on RTE's Other Voices and received invitations to perform on TG4's Róisin, ETV's Terevisioon (Estonia) and ARTE's Metropolis (Germany/France).

Sive released her debut LP The Roaring Girl in 2017, following a successful crowd funding campaign. In mid 2018, Sive started working with VETA Records who will also handle the release of the forthcoming album.

Previous singles 'Winter', 'Think Before I Speak' and 'Beira' marked Sive's sophomore album campaign, paving the way for a stunning new alt-folk release.
