Academy Award Winner Alfonso Cuaron - Children of Men, Gravity and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is switching gears for his latest movie Roma.
While Cuaron's last films have been big blockbusters heavy on action and spectacle, his latest is a Mexican set autobiographical black and white period piece.
Roma follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighbourhood of Roma in Mexico City. A love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst the political turmoil of the 1970s.
As well as directing, Cuaron wrote and worked as cinematographer on the film.
