Trainspotting 2 actor Bradley Welsh shot dead
The actor, who was a friend of Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, was reportedly shot dead in Scotland last night.
The actor and former boxer was reportedly killed in Edinburgh on Wednesday night (April 17). His death is being treated as suspicious.
Police have said that they were called to Chester Street in the city at around 8pm and found a man with serious injuries.
They said that he died at the scene.
In a statement, Police Scotland said: "His death is being treated as suspicious and inquiries are continuing. Officers will continue to provide a high-visibility presence in the area to engage with the public, offer reassurance and gather information that can assist with this investigation.
"Anyone who believes they have any relevant information should contact police immediately."
Welsh starred as gangland figure Mr Doyle in 2017's T2 Trainspotting, the sequel to Danny Boyle's 1996 original film.
The 42- year old was also former boxing champion and reformed football hooligan.
In recent years, he had become involved in charity projects in Edinburgh, which included helping young people stay away from crime through his Holyrood Boxing Gym.
Irvine Welsh paid tribute to his friend on Twitter, writing: "Bradley John Welsh, my heart is broken. Goodbye my amazing and beautiful friend.
"Thanks for making me a better person and helping me to see the world in a kinder and wiser way."
