A meeting will take place on April 15th from 3-4pm at Street 66 to announce Trans and Intersex Pride 2023. With five to ten years the current waiting time for the National Gender Service and the psychiatric model of care which requires trans people to endure first appointments of three-hour durations with eight-minute breaks, Trans and Intersex Pride wish to mobilise for a change, and build a movement dedicated to providing informed consent, and localised trans healthcare.
The last year saw an increase in transphobic and homophobic violence. A 29% increase in hate crimes, and 511 attacks on trans sex workers was documented last year, highlighting the need for a movement that is able to protect people against this kind of phobia.
Trans Pride have also expressed a concern in the noticeable rise of far-right groups and movements, highlighting the need for anti-fascism to play a prominent role in their upcoming march. According to the organisations, far-right groups have moved on from using migrants as scapegoats to trans people.

In the face of this right-wing backlash Trans and Intersex Pride are taking the steps to build an active movement against the increased levels of transphobia and the oppression this community faces.
