Scott’s performance was meant to serve as the live debut of his long-anticipated album Utopia, which is scheduled to be released this coming Friday.
Hip-hop superstar Travis Scott’s show at the Pyramids of Giza on July 28 has been called off due to “ complex production issues”, according to a statement from Live Nation Middle East.
“Despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert,” said the announcement. “We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired. Refunds will be issued to all ticket holders at their point of purchase.”

It was speculated earlier this month that the concert had already been cancelled by the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate. The organisation claimed that “safety and protection of the audience” and “peculiar rituals performed by the star during his performance contradicting our authentic societal values and traditions” were the primary reasons behind the cancellation.

Safety at Travis Scott’s shows have been of paramount concern in recent years following the tragic crowd crush at his Astroworld fetival in 2021, which left 10 people, including children, dead, with thousands more injured.
Scott’s performance was meant to serve as the live debut of his long-anticipated album Utopia, which is scheduled to be released this coming Friday.
The rapper recently headlined Dublin’s Longitude festival, where he left festivalgoers waiting for fifty minutes before appearing to provide a condensed set of sixteen songs.
