TV3 proved that they had the content to bolster their big unveiling at the National Concert Hall this afternoon.
While the main story of the day was the announcement that Ireland's Got Talent will be debuting on TV3 next year, the broadcaster also announced a host of new and returning shows, which Managing Director Pat Kiely said was a result of "huge ambition and huge confidence" on the part of TV3 and their controlling group, Virgin Media.
Among the other main headlines of the day was that the Six Nations was going to be brought to TV3 next year, with 15 games across 4 years being shown on the channel. Ronan O'Gara will joining the panel as a presenter for the games. Exciting things lined up.
In the factual and current affairs department, Pat Kenny will continue to do what Pat Kenny does on the Pat Kenny Show, only this time on a Wednesday. Sarah McInerney will host a documentary looking at the housing crisis, while a four part documentary called Babymakers will follow the harrowing journey of people trying to have children via IVF (this, in particular, looks set to be a touching programme). There has also been a multi-million euro investment to make TV3's newsroom the "most technological in the country". The audience was shown a brief look at some of its features, but it's too early to tell how sophisticated an investment this will be. Collette Fitzpatrick urged people to tune in at 5.30pm on September 4 to find out...
In the football department, the UEFA Champion's League will return to TV3 on Tuesdays, with Graeme Souness leading TV3’s team of experts alongside Neil Lennon, Kevin Kilbane and Brian Kerr (who all seem very pal-y indeed!) Tommy Martin will present the coverage from the Virgin Media TV3 HD Studio, opening with Manchester Utd v Basel on Tuesday, September 12.
Elsewhere, Gogglebox is going strong with Rory Cowan at the helm (Rory himself spoke personally with Hot Press, revealing that he had no qualms about leaving Mrs. Brown's Boys and was satisfied with working in Ireland and taking some more personal time to spend with his family).

Rival radio broadcasters Matt Cooper and Ivan Yates have put their differences aside and teamed up to take over Vincent Browne's role onThe Tonight Show - it'll be interesting to see how that works out.
Smalltown and Red Rock will both return, while a new six-part crime drama called Darklands will premiere this year. TV3-backed films such as the highly successful Cardboard Gangsters and A Date For Mad mary, will also get their TV premieres.
Al Porter, who hosted the event, will play cupid in the revived Blind Date show (like him or loathe him, he looks set to do a good job in this capacity), while the man himself made no shame in joking to the TV3 producers that he was angling for his own chat show. Watch this space...
