The shortlist will be announced April 28.
Irish authors Kathleen McMahon and Naoise Dolan have made the longlist for the Women's Prize for Fiction in the United Kingdom.
Dolan is nominated for her debut novel Exciting Times, which Hot Press tipped as "one of the debut novels of the year", while McMahon received the nomination for Nothing But Blue Sky.
The prize is awarded for the best full-length novel penned by a woman and published in the UK, and any female author writing in the English language is eligible. The final award will be announced on July 7, after the longlist is shortened to 6 writers (announced April 28). The prize is £30, 000.
