Leading actor Tom Cruise confirms two new 'Mission: Impossible' movies are on their way.
Paramount Pictures has revealed that not one, but two more additions to the mega-popular franchise are underway. The news was confirmed by Tom Cruise, 56, the franchise’s leading actor who will resume his role as the main character, a spy named Ethan Hunt.
The two new films follow last summer’s Mission: Impossible - Fallout, which was widely successful, earning a 97 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and over $700 million at the worldwide box office.
Rejoining the production’s team is director and writer Christopher McQuarrie, who fronted the previous film, Fallout, as well as Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation in 2015. McQuarrie will write and direct both new movies.
In a tweet posted on Monday, McQuarrie announced his involvement, stating, "Missions: Accepted #MissionImpossible"
