Fans of Graham Rawle's wonderful Guardian series Lost Consonants will be delighted to learn that a new collection is in the shops in time for Christmas, published by Boxtree, priced #6.99 (UK).
Return Of Lost Consonants features Rawles' now familiar but still uproariously funny combination of witty wordplay (at least some of it directly inspired by newspaper typos) and curious collage, all of which is, refreshingly in this age of computer trickery, created by hand.
A prolific artist and writer - his most recent outing between hard covers was Diary Of An Amateur Photographer (Picador), which catalogues one man's obsession with the seedy world of 1950s glamour photography - Rawles, who lives in London with his wife, the American artist Margaret Huber, is currently working on a new book project and has been commissioned to create a vast installation for Expo 2000 in Berlin.
In the meantime, enjoy his latest outing which, as the cover informs us, he has *been collecting for six moths*.
