Ukulele Hooley in Dun Laoghaire will return later this month
The 2022 Hooley is supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
The world famous Ukulele Hooley in Dun Laoghaire is back after a Covid-enforced two-year absence.
Now in its 11th year, The Hooley will see ukulele players and fans from all over the world descend on the south Dublin seaside town for a weekend of entertainment.
Once again, the highlight of the three-day festival will be the free concert in the People’s Park, on Sunday, August 28th. Plenty of workshops, the busk bus and open mic events will take place on Saturday, August 27th as well.
The Hooley will see ukulele performers from Ireland, the UK, US, Belgium and elsewhere taking part.
Amongst the top performers on the bill for Ukulele Hooley 2022 are Christopher Davis Shannon, The Ukulele Uff Trio from the UK and The Dublin Ukulele Collective.
As a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and educator, based in Philadelphia, Davis-Shannon maintains a steady tour schedule with his own music.
“We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring the Hooley back,” explained organiser Niall Carty, “the Hooley was really missed by players in Ireland and abroad and by fans who came every year.
“This is a free, family focussed, fun event that has grown into an internationally recognised celebration of the humble ukulele which is now one of the most popular instruments in Ireland. The Hooley has been missed but we are back in full swing,” he added.
