Kate Dolan's You Are Not My Mother is set to hit Irish cinemas on March 4.
A new trailer has been released for You Are Not My Mother – the feature directorial debut of Kate Dolan, starring Hazel Doupe (Float Like a Butterfly) and Carolyn Bracken (Dublin Murders) – and if the full film is half as unnerving, horror fans are in for a treat.
The newly unveiled trailer follows a teenage girl from North Dublin, Char (Doupe), as her mother Angela (Bracken) goes missing. Upon her return, Char is determined to uncover the truth behind her mother's mysterious new behaviour, all of which is pointing the chilling realisation: maybe her mother never really returned at all.
As the story unfolds, an increasingly disarmed and lonely Char begins to uncover suppressed family secrets and a sinister presence – of the supernatural sort – inspired by the more eerie aspects of Irish folklore.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Jury Prize for Best Film at the Gérardmer Film Festival in France. Later this month, it will screen at the Virgin Dublin International Film Festival prior to its wide release in Irish cinemas on March 4.
Along with Doupe and Bracken, You Are Not My Mother features performances by Paul Reid (Vikings), Ingrid Craigie (Blood) and Jordanne Jones (I Used to Live Here).

Dolan's previous work involves mostly short films. She is best known for her satirical horror short Catcalls (2021) wherein a man looking for a cheap thrill decides to flash the wrong two girls late at night and subsequent chaos ensues.
