HamsandwicH was formed by Podge McNamee and Niamh Farrell on Good Friday 2003, but the Meath band have come a long way since that party 19 years ago. Watch the world premiere of the enchanting trio's 'Le Soleil' video below.
Meath outfit HamsandwicH are back with a bang, and a video for their punchy new single 'Le Soleil'.
Premiered exclusively on hotpress.com, the quirky animated work was produced and directed by long-time collaborator Marc Corrigan, whose unique concept brings a surreal vision to the offering.
Opening with scratchy instrumentation, acoustic guitar riffs bring the song to life alongside ethereal harmonies and a driving pop-fuelled drum beat. "Do you find that you have too little time/Making the decisions that you wouldn't care for?" Niamh and Podge croon in tandem.
The visuals see an amalgamation of a human body and bird head wandering around a large mansion, while the lyrics question what it means to be human and make tough choices. By the video's conclusion, a range of animal/human characters are dancing in unison to the soaring chorus: "Le soleil, am I only human?"
The beautifully drawn animation tells the song's story in Corrigan's fascinatingly unique style.

Marc’s previous animated videos for HamsandwicH include 'Ants', 'Satellite', and 'Broken Glass'.
'Le Soleil' will be officially land on streaming services this Friday, June 17 and marks the band's second single release following 'Electro-Wave'.
The Kells indie-rockers will unveil their anticipated forthcoming fourth studio album later this year, with more details expected to come in the coming months.
Racing in at just over two minutes long, 'Le Soleil' is the shortest recorded song by HamsandwicH to date. It sees the group embrace their indie roots once more while still churning out the pop rock sensibilities they are known for in recent times.
The vibrant single was produced and recorded by Michael Heffernan, and mixed by Justin Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Glasvegas, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). Mastering was carried out by talented duo Emily Lazar and Chris Allgood (Beck, Haim, Vampire Weekend).
