Speaking to Screen Junkies at the Brazilian Comic Con Vin Diesel teased that there could one day be a Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off movie centring around the characters of Rocket and Groot.
The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise provides some of the funniest and most colourful comic book characters in the Marvel Universe. Most notably, the friendship of Rocket Racoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and the tree-like humanoid Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) has stuck with the hearts and minds of Galaxy fans.
Although there is already a lot of talking about a Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie, there are no distinct plans for the future of the rather odd superhero squad. As rumours about the heroes spilling off into the Marvel Universe get louder and louder it is now considered as likely that the Guardians could pop up in Avengers: Infinity War along with Iron Man & co. But what comes after their possible appearance in the Avengers movie is still far down the road.
Or maybe not too far – according to Vin Diesel. In a recent Interview to promote his new movie XxX: The Return Of Xander Cage, Diesel suggested that the Guardians director James Gunn could actually be serious about a Rocket and Groot spin-off.
“I think if it’s up to James Gunn, you are going to see a Groot and Rocket movie after Infinity War. I think that’s highly possible. We shall see.”
Diesel also reveals that he would like to see Groot battling Hulk in one of the future movies.

“I know that, somewhere in the universe, you are going to see Groot and Hulk battle. You can write it somewhere. You are going to see that poster: Hulk vs. Groot.”
While it’s not clear how serious and knowledgeable Diesel is on the spin-off and the Hulk and Groot battle, one thing seems certain: A spin-off for the hilarious and heart-warming duo would be very well received by the fans!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit the screens on May 5, 2017.
